I don't know if you've seen Gasland yet, but it's been one of the most important movies I've seen in a long time. I think it's being shown on cable now, and you can order the disc on Netflix. We watch a lot of movies at Bittersweets because we are sitting at the bench for many hours a day! I love the urgency of this movie and the work that the folks who are behind this movie/movement are putting into this issue. If you check it out, email me what you think! We're having a Halloween contest to give away our brand new kitty ring. Can you correctly name the two movies that we watched at Bittersweet's Headquarters in the last 24 hours where the kitties attack!?! Hint: Italian - 1980, and Swedish - 2008.

You get a 14k gold kitty ring. It's not on our site yet- we have a few at Catbird. They're brand new and as always, hand made, so that each one is slightly different. Shown in rose and yellow gold.

Loving Mummies

This is some serious TLF- Italian archaeologists found the Roman-era couple at a depth of about 10 feet and they are thought to have been buried between the 5th and 6th century A.D. The woman looks as though she is gazing at her man. She is wearing a bronze ring. I wonder what that ring looks like? Perhaps Bittersweets will have to make something that would look like a Roman mummy ring.

Foundry

Almost never put up pics of yours truly, but I found this old photo from my first foundry job (Hi Modern Art Foundry in Astoria!) that my sister took. We were obligated to wear steel toe boots of which I could only get in the smallest boys size- still 2 sizes too big for my absurdly small feet. It looks like I'm going to fall over frontwards! Still, one of the best jobs ever.

George popped the...(I would say "question", but it wasn't really one) ring a few days ago. It was certainly worth the wait. I absolutely love it. In this case, it was a letter ring, in desperate need of repair. Which reminds me, if you have a letter ring that needs repair, email us! We can fix it up, or if it's worn too thin, even replace it for you for free. How's that for use & re-use?

New Site, New Cuff Links...

We are launching a new site and one of our brand new items was inspired by a lovely gal who requested these for the best man at her wedding. But I'll let her tell you:

I feel you should know the story behind The Best Day Ever. :) The Best Day Ever is a manifesto that my Man of H, Jeremy, and I made up when we were studying abroad in college. It came about when we decided to go out on an adventure even though we had a ton of work to do. We ended up having the Best Day Ever full of relaxation, delicious food, amazing conversation, and tons of laughing AND the best part was, all our work ended up getting done in the end. The lesson was, the work will always get done and you cannot let the the stresses of life stop you from enjoying the little things. Whenever one of us is stressing out about something or overwhelmed we remind the other one about the B.D.E. We remind each other to breathe know that if you take time to let the good stuff in, it all works out and you can transform a bad/busy/stressed day into something amazing. He will be so happy when he gets this gift not only cuz the cuff links are beautiful, but because it is allowing our little well-loved manifesto to get passed on to someone new.

I know ALL of my wedding party will love the gifts you made and I am so excited to get to give them...and a tiny bit jealous that they get such rockin' jewelry :) Thanks so much for everything! It's been awesome working with you!
